Guest speaker Rabbi Eliezer Zaklikovsky; Farbraingen Thursday January 21st, 2010
In preparation for Yud Shvat Morristown was privileged to host the much sought after Chassid and Historian Rabbi Eliezer Zaklikovsky, Director of Chabad of Monroe,NJ. As a promising scholar while yet a student, Zaklikovsky provided educational programs for small Jewish communities throughout Eastern Europe. His visits extended to the Far East as well and most notably, directing the world’s largest Passover Seder in Katmandu, Nepal. After receiving his Rabbinic ordination from the Gaon Rabbi Pinchos Hirshprung OBM, the late chief rabbi of Montreal, Zaklikovsky taught at the Yeshivah Gedolah of greater Miami Zaklikovsky authored no less then twelve books about Chassidic history and Philosophy and contributed to many others. Some titles include ‘Mekadesh Yisroel’, ‘Yimei Bereishis’ and ‘Bineos Desha’. Rabbi Zaklikovsky is an authority on Jewish history, his latest book “Out of the inferno” is a documentary of correspondence, maps and photographs of the dramatic diplomatic efforts to rescue the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe from war-torn Warsaw, Poland in 1939, and bringing him to the US. Students sat spellbound as Zaklikovsky revealed to them some of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s personal involvement and interest in the founding and development of Yeshiva Tiferes Bachurim in Morristown. |
